Here is where you can discover all you need to know before applying to join the Team as a Job Coach.

Our Job Coaches support our customers to settle in to a new job with practical on-site support as they learn and apply their new routines for work, and also assist when things aren't going to plan with scheduled additional support when it is needed.

The work of our Job Coaches is funded by Access to Work (AtW) part of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) who support people with disabilities to get into, and remain in, paid employment.

 

Origins of Job Coaching

Originally begun in the United States the practice of Job Coaching follows a model of Systematic Instruction, and we provide all of our Job Coaches with training before they are deployed to support our customers. Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) enables our Job Coaches with practical examples and experience, as well as the confidence to carry out their tasks.

Training involves awareness of the Origins, the practical steps we take when coaching, how to measure the impact of coaching, and the importance of reducing the coaches involvement as the customer adopts and demonstrates their ability.

Recruitment Process:

All of our Job Coaches are registered on the Gloucestershire County Council Temporary Staff Service (TSS) and need to be vetted by the Disclosure and Barring Service before training is provided. The process is straightforward, and you only need to register once. On receipt of your initial application, we will contact you and if there's a good fit, you will be invited to complete the registration and a link will be shared with you.

Flexible hours to suit you

Our Job Coaches are employed on a flexible hours basis. What this means for you is that while there are no guaranteed minimum hours each week, or each month, we do not expect that every assignment we offer you will be taken up. Once you have been confirmed on an assignment, you will know what days and hours, and for how long you will be working on the contract. You are then paid at the end of the month following the submission of your timesheet. One aspect many have found reassuring is that wherever possible we will offer you assignments close to your home, but we may ask you to travel, so your own transport is beneficial.

Who are we looking for?

The key to success as a Job Coach is the right attitude, you must want to be part of a Team and support our customers with their employment ambitions. You may already have experience to bring with you, and that's great if you do, and not a barrier if you don't. We are particularly interested in meeting those who have some form of lived experience with conditions that can deliver barriers to employment.
