Individual Placement Support (IPS)

The Employment and Skills Hub has an IPS team that supports people with issues around alcohol and drug use to secure and sustain employment.

Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is an evidence-based approach that is internationally recognised as the most effective approach to supporting people with substance misuse issues to secure and sustain employment. It is based on over 20 years of research.

IPS aims to help people find paid jobs within just weeks of being referred to the service. Then it continues to work with both employer and employee to sustain the job placement for as long as possible, or to help the client into a different job.

IPS uses a personalised and strength-based approach and has a focus on building relationships with employers.

Our Employment Specialists provide:

  • One-to-one support, advice, and guidance focused on your new path
  • Regular meetings and continued support as you re-enter the workforce
  • Benefits advice and interview preparation
  • A personalised plan to make the most of your new opportunity
  • Sourcing and matching you to vacancies based around your goals and skill set

"Amazing to see clients totally change their lives for the better."

"I enjoy coming to appointments and discussing potential opportunities with Employment Specialists. I also like that I can do this independently or with my worker."

"IPS have been extremely understanding of my situation and I'm confident that I will find suitable employment with their ongoing support."
